STUFFED
Privacy Policy
Effective
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
STUFFED is a game made by STUDIO D8. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean STUDIO D8.
This policy explains what information we collect when you play, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It uses these terms:
- “the Game” means STUFFED, wherever you play it: on its own site at https://stuffed.studiod8.com, or inside a Platform.
- “the Site” means studiod8.com.
- “Platform” means a third-party service that the Game runs inside, such as Discord or itch.io.
- “Player ID” means the short public id that the Game gives you.
This policy covers the Game and the Site. The Terms of Service also apply when you play the Game.
2. Information we collect
The Game has no accounts. It does not ask for an email address, a password or payment details. It has no chat and shows no ads.
Information you give us
- The display name you type. If you leave it blank, the Game gives you a random one.
- Anything you send when you contact us, such as your email address and your message.
Information collected as you play
- A random private id that our server makes for you, and your Player ID, which is linked to it.
- Gameplay records linked to your private id: the rooms you join, the levels you play, your deaths, times and results, and the display name you used.
- Our hosting and network providers process your IP address, details of your browser and device, and logs of the requests your device makes.
- Google Analytics collects information about how the Game’s site and the Site are used, such as the pages you open, your browser and device, and your approximate location.
Information from Platforms
When you play the Game inside a Platform such as Discord, we may receive information from that Platform: your user id, username, display name and avatar on the Platform, and the server and channel the Game was started in.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- run the Game: put you in a room with other players, show your display name, and let you rejoin after a disconnect;
- keep your progress and your gameplay records;
- measure how the Game and the Site are used, and improve them;
- keep the Game safe and fair, and enforce the Terms of Service;
- answer your requests and messages; and
- meet our legal duties.
Where the law asks for a legal basis, we rely on our agreement with you to provide the Game, on our legitimate interests in running, improving and protecting the Game, and on your consent where the law requires it.
5. Third-party platforms
A Platform’s own terms and privacy policy cover what the Platform does with your information. We do not control it.
These rules apply to information we receive from a Platform, including Discord:
- We use it only to provide the Game to you. This may include showing your name and avatar to the players in your room.
- We do not sell it, license it, or give it to advertisers, advertising networks or data brokers.
- We do not use it for advertising or to build a profile of you.
- We do not use it to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
- We use it to improve the Game only after it has been aggregated or de-identified.
- We share it only with service providers that work for us, when the law requires it, or when you tell us to.
- We delete it when it is no longer needed to provide the Game, or when you ask us to.
If another part of this policy seems to allow more, this section applies.
6. Cookies, local storage and analytics
The Game sets no cookies of its own. It keeps the following in your browser’s local storage:
- Your private id.
- Your Player ID.
- Your display name.
- Your sound setting.
- The code of the room you are in, with a token used to rejoin it after a disconnect.
If you clear your browser’s storage, these are removed. The Game then treats you as a new player and gives you a new Player ID. Your earlier gameplay records stay on our servers. To ask about them, see Your choices and rights.
We use Google Analytics on the Game’s site and on the Site. Google Analytics sets its own cookies. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
7. Retention
We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes in this policy. When it is no longer needed, or when you ask us to delete it, we delete it or de-identify it, unless the law requires us to keep it.
8. Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it. Email legal@studiod8.com.
So that we can find your information, send us your Player ID. Open Settings in the Game. Your Player ID is shown there with a copy button.
If you do not have your Player ID, send us the display name you used, the room code, and the date and rough time you played. If you played inside a Platform, you can also send your user id on that Platform.
We may ask for more details to confirm that the request is yours. We answer within 30 days.
You can change your display name in the Game before you join a room.
Depending on where you live, the law may give you more rights, such as the right to object to or restrict how we use your information, to receive it in a portable form, or to complain to your data protection authority. We will not treat you worse for using any of your rights.
9. Children
The Game is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to play. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that we hold information from a child under 13, we delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has given us information, email legal@studiod8.com.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that your information will always stay safe.
11. International players
We operate from the United States. Your information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. The data protection laws of those countries may differ from the laws where you live.
12. Changes to this policy
We may change this policy. When we do, we post the new version on this page with a new effective date. For important changes, we also give notice in the Game or on the Site.
13. Contact
To ask about this policy or your information, or to report a problem with the Game, write to us at legal@studiod8.com.
